Embracing the power of youth and education on National Youth Day

In South Africa, National Youth Day commemorates one of the most important days for the youth of the country. It didn’t just show the world what was happening in this great country, but it showed the power of the voice of the youth. June 16 1976 showed that young people have an important voice and that we should hear them out.
Education is one of the most important, yet underfunded and underdeveloped sectors in the country. Young people still don’t receive the right education and so don’t get the futures they deserve. In 2021 we highlight Youth Power and give us the opportunity to talk about how we can grow South Africa together, especially during the hardships of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many communities were hit hardest with casualties of primary bread-winners and healthcare workers due to the pandemic and so are without hope. Even those who were on track to study further to become healthcare workers were hampered and had to put their dreams on hold. There are many more sectors in the economy and communities that have a bleaker future because the youth who were on track to work there don’t have access anymore.
One of the ways we can improve and grow in South Africa is improving education and giving opportunities to those who strive to better themselves. The HcHeroes Legacy memorial is one of those initiatives. Founded on 9 June 2021 this fund strives to provide scholarships to those who can’t afford the education that will give them the tools for a brighter future. These scholarships will go to the youth who want to become healthcare workers and others to improve the country and their home communities.
Let’s help these young people to follow their dreams so that we can Grow South Africa together and create a brighter future. Donate to the HcHeroes Legacy fund and give them the best chance possible.
