Mediwell’s Bonitas Boncap Network Doctors provides routine and urgent medical care, travel medicine, immunizations, as well as sexual health services, reproductive and gynaecological services, LGBTO health care, and confidential HIV testing.

We offer medical check-ups, diagnosis and treatment of acute illnesses, health screenings and the treatment of chronic health matters such as diabetes, hypertension and asthma. Regular check-ups are an important part of maintaining good health and can prevent serious illnesses.

Wellness

Our Bonitas Boncap Network Doctors add value to healthy patients and patients at risk by early detection of diseases and preventative care which increases awareness and helps maintain and improve a healthy status. This is done through our offering of variety of health assessments.

Chronic Conditions Management

A chronic medical condition is one that has been (or is likely to be) present for six months or longer, for example, asthma, cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, musculoskeletal conditions and stroke. There is no list of eligible conditions; however, the CDM items are designed for patients who require a structured approach, including those requiring ongoing care from a multidisciplinary team.

Acute Illnesses Management

Management of acute illnesses like cold & flu symptoms, seasonal & perennial allergies, migraine headaches, eyes, ears, nose and throat disorders; stomach problems to include nausea and vomiting, diarrhoea and constipation, screening for appendicitis and gall bladder problems; management of acute injuries like acute back pain and muscle strains, laceration repairs and acute skeletal-muscular injuries (no chronic back pain). We also manage chronic diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes, anaemia and thyroid disease.

Oral Hygiene

It is important to have your teeth professionally cleaned by your dentist or oral hygienist at least twice a year. If you suffered from previously treated periodontal disease, have your teeth cleaned professionally every three months.

Dental Surgery

Dental surgery can be booked and performed in house by one of our dentists.

Orthodontics

Orthodontics is a specialist branch of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, prevention, and correction of dental and facial irregularities

Mediwell Dainfern Medical Centre’s baby clinic is headed by Sister Sally-Anne, our Baby Clinic sister.

Sister Sally has vast experience with looking after moms from the moment they give birth to their precious ones. She is a seasoned lactation consult and passionate about all aspects of early childhood health and development.

Mediwell Baby Clinic services include:

• Growth (weight, length and height) and development monitoring from birth to 2 years

X-RAYS

Mediwell provides all basic radiographic and fluoroscopic examinations. These examinations include x-rays of all parts of the body and many more specialised examinations such as contrast studies of gastrointestinal and genitourinary tracts.

Sonar

The sonogram is used by physicians to observe the growth of a foetus, to calculate their age and due date, and to see the presence of multiple foetuses. It is also used to diagnose internal problems such as pelvic bleeding, and to locate cancerous cells.

What does the course entail?

The course covers training for CPR, choking, drowning, burns, fractures, approach to a dehydrated child, coughs and colds, anaphylaxis, febrile convulsions… and lots more!

How much does it cost?

The Baby Proof CPR and first aid Course is R650 per person if you are booking alone, and R500 per person if you book as a couple or group booking.

When are the courses held?

The course is held on the following dates:
Every 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month. Between 10:00 and 13:30

Is this a first aid level 1 course?

The course is not a First aid level 1 course, but a basic CPR, First aid and Child health course, which utilizes the protocols set up by the Resuscitation Council. We do offer first aid level 1 courses as well. Upon completion, you receive a Participation Certificate. If you are a Discovery health member and have Vitality, you will be awarded 2500 Discovery Vitality points.

The course is run by Dr Malebo Mokotedi, a family practitioner from Mediwell Dainfern Medical Centre and co-designed by Bronwyn Gemmel from Tericorp. Bronwyn Gemmel is an experienced AEA Medic and registered with HWSETA as an Assessor and Moderator.

Tericorp is fully registered with the Department of Labour and is an accredited Discovery training facility.

Where is the course held?

The courses are held at Mediwell Dainfern Square, but we are available to come to your venue for group bookings if pre-arranged.
